Saturn (Sol VI) is a class J gas giant in the Sol system. The sixth planet from the sun, Saturn's most distinguishing characteristic are its rings.

History and specifics[]

Colonel Shaun Geoffrey Christopher commanded the first manned mission to Saturn in the 21st century. (TOS episode: "Tomorrow is Yesterday", TOS novel: The Rings of Time)

By the mid-21st century, Humans had established a colony on Titan, Saturn's largest moon. (ST novel: Federation)

In 2255, in the Kelvin timeline, the Starfleet Academy Flight Range was located near Saturn. The Zeta Fleet Training Exercise was conducted in the Academy Flight Range that year and was centered on Starbase Zeta, an abandoned mining facility orbiting Titan. (TOS - Starfleet Academy novel: The Gemini Agent)

The first Borg cube to invade Sector 001 passed by Saturn on its way to Earth. The USS Enterprise-D, which was pursuing the cube, passed by the planet a few minutes later. (TNG episode: "The Best of Both Worlds")
