Saushulima was a male haguya. He shared a close bond with the young human child named Rhiannon on the planet Rampart in the 24th century.

History[]

In the 2360s, Rhiannon named him after Saushulima, a character from Zuni mythology. Saushulima was friendly to Rhiannon’s fellow Dissenters who lived in the caverns of Alastor. He and other haguya listened with their babies as Dissenters shared stories of folklore and mythology from the heritage of Earth.

In 2366, when 12-year-old Rhiannon and other Dissenters were about to be executed by thought-police, Saushulima led a flock of haguya to rescue them. The sight of animals that looked like dragons was a shock which even broke through the brainwashing of the Director of Cephalic Security, a man who once was Captain Alfred Bowles, last survivor of the USS Huxley. He ordered the security officers to stand down. The Dissenters fled to safety and Bowles beamed aboard the USS Enterprise. Shortly afterward, several hundred security officers left their homes to join the Dissenters, including Lieutenant Redman. (TNG novel: Gulliver's Fugitives)
