A sauvignon blanc is a type of white wine produced on Earth.

History and specifics[]

In 1519 aboard the city-ship Axion, stranded 22nd century Earth Starfleet starship Columbia personnel Captain Erika Hernandez, First Officer Veronica Fletcher, and CMO Johanna Metzger discussed what they missed most from their lives on Earth that day. For Hernandez, it was wine. She cited sauvignon blanc along with burgundy, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, chianti, malbec, merlot, pinotage, riesling, rioja, and zinfandel. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)

In 2316 when they first met at a Starfleet gathering, Edward Janeway and Gretchen Janeway drank a sauvignon blanc from California, and it became "their" wine. Years later, in 2377, when Gretchen received a transmission from Admiral Owen Paris, she grabbed a bottle of it from her cooler to calm down before replying. Paris wanted her to hear him conversing with her daughter Captain Kathryn Janeway in real-time from the Delta Quadrant. (VOY - Strange New Worlds IV short story: "Uninvited Admirals")
