Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

The Scorpius Run was a race held in the Scorpius Sector of the Alpha/Beta Quadrant by crime boss Zephyx of Celius Prime. It was named in honor of the Scorpius constellation.

According to Zephyx, when the gateway to Scorpius is open, nine ships of the sector take part in the race. Whoever wins the race, their debts to Zephyx are absolved and their planets are amply reward. However, the losers forfeit their ships and lose their lives.(SNW - The Scorpius Run comic: "Issue 1")

The Scorpius Run of 2259[]

In 2259, nine ships were set to take part in the race. At the last minute the Klessian racer, Aisla of the Kestrel was rescued by the Federation starship, USS Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike. Upon their arrival at Celius Prime, Aisla, Pike, Chin-Riley and two of their officers met with Zephyx. Zephyx was able to coerce Pike and the Enterprise into taking Aisla's place in the Run. Aisla, Pike and his officers were beamed to the gala on Celius Prime where they met the other racers, such as Seryn, Corsok, and Vallestus. Following the gala, Zephyx broadcasted a commencement speech.

"Distinguished patrons, honored guests, and brave competitors... ... The time has come.
The gateways are aligning and the first leg of the Scorpius Run is about to commence.
By tradition, each crew takes its place aboard their vessel and the race begins.
"

However, Zephyx decided to issue a new challenge: switch several crew members aboard the ships. Thus, Chin-Riley was transported to Corsok's ship and Spock to Vallestus' ship much to Pike's chagrin. Despite the setback, Pike and the Enterprise's crew took part in the race.(SNW - The Scorpius Run comic: "Issue 1")
