Sector 001, also known as the Sol sector, is an Alpha Quadrant sector of space that is located in the heart of the United Federation of Planets, according to Federation measurement standards and terminology in stellar cartography.

As the sector's common name indicates, this sector contains the Sol star and its Sol system, including planet Earth, homeworld of the Human race and capital of the United Earth state. The sector was bordered towards the galaxy's lower reaches by the Tellar sector. Towards the galaxy's outer spiral regions, sector 001 is bordered by the Sigma Draconis sector. Moving counter-clockwise around the galactic center, this sector is bordered by the Ophiucus sector. (ST reference: Star Charts; TNG episode: "The Best of Both Worlds")
