Sector 97 is a region located near Federation space and is the location of a large black cluster. (CCG set: Premiere)

In 2367, the USS Enterprise-D entered the sector to locate the SS Vico after contact had been lost while they were charting the cluster. (TNG episode: "Hero Worship")

Sector 97 includes 14 administrative systems and one sovereign called Epsilon Boötis with its main planet Izar III, which has become, with its three million inhabitants, the most populous colonies, while perhaps also due to the mouth of the warp corridor in one of two epicenters throughout the region.[citation needed]

At a distance of 23 light-years from Izar is Auberantus system, in which the fourth ocean planet hosts the submarine base Heavenward - Starfleet Academy and Command for this sector and other administrative offices and institutions.[citation needed]
