For the primary universe counterpart, see Sekaya.

In the mirror universe, Sekaya was a Terran female, the daughter of Kolopak, and the sister of Chakotay. She live with her family on a planet settled by independent and proudly traditional Terrans from the Americas of Earth. She grew up with Chakotay, learning their people's traditions from their father. She and her brother were taken by Klingon foot soldiers when the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance took over their homeworld. Defying the Klingons, she was beaten so badly that her left eye was damaged for the rest of her life, and her speech was slurred. She was forced into submission in the dilithium mines on Drema IV. One day, when she collapsed from exhaustion, the Bajoran overseer of the mine blew off her head with a disruptor. Her brother Chakotay took vengeance upon her, killing the overseer a year later.
