Selath was a female Klingon who served the renegade House of Duras as a nursemaid that cared for their future heir, the infant son of Mistress B'Etor.
Biography[]
A member of the Duras — a once prominent figure inside the Great Houses of the Klingon Empire — Selath continued to serve this clan, even after a civil war discredited their central figures as duplicitous collaborators who bore connections with the Romulan Star Empire. The following decades of their activities saw the House of Duras dwindle from the loss of its dual leaders, Lursa and B'Etor, when both women were lost with their flagship above Veridian III. Before she and her sister met their demise, B'Etor entrusted Selath and Vikoth — custodian of their house — with her juvenile son, who was destined to inherit the remainder of the holdings that his mother once held. This birthright made future leader of House Duras a target for the rival warrior Keltak, who sought to abduct them and take over enterprises which the infant was destined to inherit. Upon learning about this scheme, Vikoth decided to have Selath and their charge relocated to a safer location, but while en route to the site, the vessel that had been dispatched to chauffeur them came under attack from the House of K'Gor, although the nursemaid was able to transmit a distress call that was intercepted by a runabout with none other than Worf - a significant adversary of the Duras who had been instrumental to their downfall - at the helm. When Worf came in answer to the call for help, Selath entrusted the child of B'Etor to his care, but was absent when her attackers chased the son of Mogh to a forested planet, where Keltak remarked that "the old woman" had chosen well to select him as the new defender of the infant.
