A sensor ghost is a type of malfunction in sensor systems which gives false readings indicating bodies being detected where there are none.

In 2254, the USS Enterprise experienced bad sensor ghosting around the planetoid Darien 224 due to the high levels of stellar radiation in the system. This allowed the USS Cortez under command of hostile forces to launch a sneak attack on the starship. (EV comic: "Cloak and Dagger")
