The Sh'vhal class[2] (or T'Kalat class[4]) was a 24th century Vulcan starship type, a Vulcan cruiser[3] class in Federation and Confederacy of Vulcan service by the 2380s decade. (LD episode: "wej Duj")

In the 2410s, this class was in Federation Starfleet and Khitomer Alliance service as a tier 6-rated temporal science spearhead. (STO website: Shadow's Advance: The Sh'vhal Temporal Science Spearhead)

Technical specifications[]

Sh'vhal 2381

The Sh'vhal in 2381.

Structurally, the Sh'vhal class resembled the older D'Kyr-class ringship. Unlike the D'Kyr, the Sh'vhal had additional warp nacelles attached to its coleopteric warp drive. In the 25th century, Vulcan starships carried the registry prefix "VSS" by default.

For operations in interstellar space, this class was fitted with Mk. X-rated equipment. It achieved sublight propulsion with a standard impulse engine. The warp drive was powered by a matter anti-matter warp core. Like all Khitomer Alliance ships of the line in the 2410s, this class could operate with transwarp and a quantum slipstream drive.

Protection from matter particles was provided by a standard deflector array. The Sh'vhal-class being a science vessel type, the deflector was augmented by a secondary deflector, specifically a deteriorating secondary deflector Mk. X.

While in service to Federation Starfleet, the shuttlebay hosted Type-8 shuttles by default. (STO - Shadow's Advance mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Weapons[]

The default weapons of a Sh'vhal-class starship were rated mark X in the 2410s. (STO - Shadow's Advance mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

History[]

The Vulcan cruiser Sh'vahl was active by 2381. In that year, a lower decks crewmember convinced the captain to upgrade the deflector shields in an unconventional manner during a battle with a Pakled clumpship and a Klingon B'rel-class bird of prey. The Sh'vhal had come to the aid of the Starfleet California-class starship USS Cerritos. The Vulcans' firepower ultimately turned the battle into the Federation's favor. However, the captain ordered the crewmember to be reassigned to Starfleet. (LD episode: "wej Duj")

Regenerative shield amplifier

Regenerative shield amplifier.

In the year 2411, Sh'vhal-class temporal science spearheads were equipped with a regenerative shield amplifier. This console could reinforce the strength of the deflector shields in combat. (STO website: Shadow's Advance: The Sh'vhal Temporal Science Spearhead)
