The Shackleton Expanse is a largely unexplored region of space in the Beta Quadrant, in and around the Narendra sector, near Federation Starbase 364 and the Romulan Star Empire. Numerous spatial anomalies and other interstellar phenomena can be found within the Expanse. Starfleet investigated the area to find a defense against the Borg.
