Shadir was a planet located somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant. It was the homeworld of the advanced, warring Shadirian civilization.

History and specifics[]

In the 21st century, a Federation starship first surveyed Shadir, reporting that it was populated with an advanced society going through an industrial revolution.

A new type of war began on the surface in the 22nd century instituted by Plateous II, continued by his successors, fought through android avatars operated from various underground war rooms. Surface cities had architecture resembling that of late 20th century Earth, but endless battles left them war-torn and abandoned.

In 2273, the USS Enterprise visited Shadir, rescuing an injured pilot within a wrecked, orbiting Shadirian spacecraft, discovering that Yra was actually an avatar of the pilot. A landing party inadvertently beamed into a war zone and retreated to a former city park, but was ambushed and captured by members of one faction. Eventually they were able to escape and return to the ship. Yra was beamed down to join a group of rebels aiming to return their society to peace. (Phase II episode: "The War to End All Wars")
