Shane Samson was a human Starfleet officer in the 23rd century. In the early 2250s, he was the assistant chief engineer of the Miranda-class USS Achilles.
When the Achilles was destroyed at the Battle of Theta Kalyb in 2254, Samson was one of fifty-three survivors beamed aboard the USS Enterprise. Due to the death of the Enterprise's assistant chief, Commodore Strickland approved Samson's reassignment without delay. (EV comic: "Futures, Part One")
Samson and Chief engineer Moves-With-Burning-Grace didn't see eye-to-eye and appeared to clash often. Their arguing was even noted by Admiral Robert April when he was aboard the Enterprise. However, Samson did get on very well with Yeoman Mia Colt much to Lieutenant Jose Tyler's disgust. The two almost came to blows in the mess hall but were interrupted by a red alert.
