Introduction (blurb)

The third all-new collection of deliciously twisted Star Trek tales, showing the dark, amoral, alternate versions of Voyager, New Frontier, and Deep Space Nine.

This new anthology spanning more than two hundred years of alternate Star Trek history by well-known authors, including Peter David and Keith R.A. DeCandido features a dozen new twisted tales from the other universe - a sinister yet eerily familiar world where history took a different turn, featuring the brutal, amoral, alternate versions of Star Trek’s heroes.

Contents

Twelve short stories by various authors in the settings of various series, including book-only ones.

"Nobunaga" by Dave Stern (ENT)

"Ill Winds" by Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore (pre-TOS/Robert April)

"The Greater Good by Margaret Wander Bonanno (TOS)

"The Black Flag" by James Swallow (Vanguard)

"The Traitor" by Michael Jan Friedman (Stargazer)

"The Sacred Chalice" by Rudy Josephs (TNG)

"Bitter Fruit" by Susan Wright (VOY)

"Family Matters" by Keith R.A. DeCandido (IKS Gorkon/Klingon Empire)

"Homecoming" by Peter David (New Frontier)

"A Terrible Beauty" by Jim Johnson (DS9)

"Empathy" by Christopher L. Bennett (Titan)

"For Want of a Nail by David Mack (TNG-ish)

Originally scheduled as an April 2008 release, the title was announced as being delayed in February of that year.

Information

Keith DeCandido has reported his Gorkon tale shows how Klag and Macet became friends. David Mack's tale includes more on Spock's plan seen in Sorrows of Empire, while the Ward-Dilmore tale features the Mirror versions of Robert and Sarah April. A seperate SCE e-book was planned for release to tie in to the release of the book, but this was scuppered by the cancellation of the SCE series.
