Sharifi was the Commandant of Starfleet Academy in 2293. She was the person responsible for creating the Academy Marathon, and choosing Danula II as it's location. Either she once crash landed there, or she picked the place at random, no one knows for sure. (New Worlds, New Civilizations short story: "The Footfalls of Tradition")
