Shawn Ketcherside was a Trill male, who entered and was accepted into Starfleet Academy sometime in the mid-2370s.

In 2378, he could often be seen hanging around the Academy grounds, especially the ground floor lobby, between classes. (TNG video game: Elite Force II)

As the character has a Human-sounding name, it is possible he has at least one Human ancestor, or his parents could've decided to give him a Human name if he was born on Earth.
