Shell mark First High Councilor

First High Councilor's shell mark.

A shell mark was a type of rank insignia worn by the insectoid Bebebebeque in the 23rd century.

History and specifics[]

The shell mark denoted a Beek's rank and identification, including their hierarchy within a Nest. Shell marks were worn on the left and right sides of the prescutum, the anterior portion of a Bebebebeque's thorax. Other nest symbology was placed atop the thorax.

When a Kzinti occupation subjugated Beeks on the planet Mimit, as slaves they were treated anonymously and denied shell marks. Though out of contact for 15 years, rebel Beeks recognized the First High Councilor's shell mark on sight. (TOS comic: "The Wristwatch Plantation")
