Sheridan's World was a planet, the third planet in the Sheridan star system.

History and specifics[]

A class M planet, Sheridan's world is the third world located in a star system in an area of space at coordinates 8.49S, 0.0E, and is the only habitable planet in its system. Sheridan's World has a single moon in its orbit and has a mean planetary gravity of .75g. The planet has a rotational period of 21 hours and a warm, temperate climate.

Sheridan's World has a diameter of 9,100 kilometers, with an equatorial circumference of 28,000 km. A surface area of 358,000,000 square kilometers, with 40% land mass, yields a land area of around 143,200,000 square kilometers. The planet's mineral content is made up of about 25% normal metals, 5% radioactive material and 20% gemstones. There are also trace amounts of industrial grade crystals available, as well as other special minerals. (FASA RPG module: Conflict of Interests)

History[]

Sheridan's world was discovered, named and charted on reference stardate 2/05 by a Federation survey party led by Starfleet Commander Sean Sheridan. A year later, around stardate 2/06, a team from the Klingon Empire also visited the world. After the Organian Peace Treaty of stardate 2/08, in 2267, the planet became part of the Organian Treaty Zone, more commonly known as the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone.

Sheridan's World was chosen by the Organians in 2268 as an experiment to determine the viability of a Human/Klingon colony.

The Organians granted permission for Federation and Klingon representatives to visit the planet in the mid-2280s. (FASA RPG modules: Conflict of Interests, Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)

Background[]

This planet obviously lies in one of the two quadrants that make up "local" space. However, since parts of the Federation and the Klingon Empire cross between the Alpha Quadrant and the Beta Quadrant, it is unclear where exactly the world is, since the FASA RPG was made years before the canon quadrant system was devised. There is a likelihood Sheridan's World is in the Beta Quadrant, however, since that area houses the bulk of Klingon space.
