Sigma-1014 Orionis was a star with an associated star system in the Beta Quadrant of the galaxy, in an area of space that is part of the constellation of Orion visible from Sol. Thousands of years prior to the 23rd century, Sigma-1014 Orionis went nova, creating the phenomena the Vulcan civilization referred to as the da'Nikhirch. Prior to that cataclysm, this system contained the "hearthworld" of the Inshai Compact. It was theorized by later scientists that a sunkiller bomb was responsible for the nova event.
