Sigma Thernia IIIB was the second moon of Sigma Thernia III in the Sigma Thernia system, located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.
History and specifics[]
Sigma Thernia IIIB seemed to be class M with a terrestrial atmosphere, normal gravity and a variety of plant and animal life, including worms and birds.
Intelligence evolved before life on the planet, forming into a hive mind viral entity which influenced the behavior of the moon's animals.
In 2271, the USS Yorktown explored the moon. A landing party unknowingly became "infected" by the virus-like hive mind, which hyper-accelerated the intelligence of exposed crewmembers.
