See Singer for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Singer was a 23rd century Human woman, an ensign in Starfleet who served as helmsman of the Federation starship USS Surak under the command of Captain Spock in 2285.

Biography[]

Singer manned the helm during Surak's visit to Verdee. (TOS comic: "The Trouble with Transporters!")

Singer joined the landing party when Surak encountered a class VI Aakenn-class freighter in distress, even though Spock did not specifically ask her to accompany them. When they found a lone Andorian survivor aboard the derelict, she said he looked to be about as tattered as the ship. She and the rest of her team returned, unknowingly spreading an affliction carried by the survivor.

On the bridge, Spock complimented Singer's work on the team. Moments later, she felt faint and collapsed in front of him. She asked Spock to stay with her, as she knew she was dying and didn't want to be alone. She became the first casualty of the plague aboard Surak. (TOS - The Doomsday Bug! comic: "Death Ship!")

As a member of the crew, her service record would have noted that she died in the line of duty and was awarded posthumous honors. (ST - Who's Who in Star Trek comic: "Issue 2")
