Sirius, also known as Alpha Canis Majoris was a binary star system consisting of the companion stars named Sirius A and Shahr, located about 8.6 light-years from Earth, where it was visible in the constellation of Canis Major. (TOS reference: Spaceflight Chronology)
Development and service[]
The Sirius was the dreadnought configuration of the Cygnus-class battlecruiser. Like the Galaxy and its Galaxy X-class refit before, the Cygnus was upgraded with a third warp nacelle above the secondary hull and a phaser spinal lance running along the ventral primary hull.
A ship of this class, the Venture, operated from Terok Nor during assaults of the Terran Empire on the Federation space station Deep Space 9 in the primary universe from the year 2411. (STO - Shadow's Advance mission: "Counterpoint")
