Summary[]
The USS Enterprise is trying to recover Counselor Deanna Troi, and the pilot of the disabled shuttlecraft #13. Tragically, because of the sadistic and cruel nature of the "Skin of Evil", Armus, the Enterprise's Security Chief Tasha Yar loses her life in a most cruel and dishonorable fashion. Armus just sucked the life out of her. Realizing that sadistic pleasures are all that Armus desires, Captain Jean-Luc Picard begins to take a new tactic, but almost losing his first officer Commander William T. Riker, when Armus raises the stakes of the encounter by absorbing Riker into himself. Riker is released, but Armus is not satisfied. Being that he is literally the "Skin of Evil" of his civilization, a race of aliens that shed their evil, and sadistic tendencies. Thus Armus was spawned. Aware of this sadistic and horrifying streak in Armus, it becomes apparent that Armus is vulnerable to suggestion when incensed. The captain and crew work against this weakness.
Eventually, the Enterprise prevails. Shuttlecraft 13 is destroyed from orbit to ensure that the malevolent Armus cannot leave the planet. In addition, Captain Picard establishes a beacon, warning all vessels away from Vagra II.
