For other uses, see T'Pau.

The T'Pau class was a Vulcan starship class, a cruiser and transport in service in the 23rd century. While in the primary universe the Confederacy of Vulcan was a member of the Federation, the Vulcans in the mirror universe participated in the rebellion against the Terran Empire. DSC episodes: "Lethe", "Despite Yourself")

In the 2250s, the class was also referred to as Solkar. (DSC Collection Issue partwork: "Federation scale chart")

Specifications[]

The class shared its name with Solkar, who initiated first contact between Vulcans and Humans in 2063, and served as ambassador between the two people on Earth afterwards. (TNG movie: Star Trek: First Contact, ST reference: Federation: The First 150 Years)

In the mirror universe, Solkar also arrived at Earth in 2063 to commence first contact with Terrans. (ENT episode: "In a Mirror, Darkly")

In the 2250s decade, these starships were used as transports and could easily land on a planet's surface. In cities, ships of the class departed from landing pads that could be attached to buildings. (DSC episode: "Lethe")

Across the mirror, ships of this class were armed with directed-energy weapons and, together with Klingon, Andorian and Tellarite forces, engaged Imperial Starfleet directly. (DSC episode: "Despite Yourself")

History[]

In December 2256, Ambassador Sarek and his aide V'Latak used a Vulcan cruiser to leave Vulcan and travel to a secret meeting with leaders of the Klingon Empire on Cancri IV. In an act of terrorism, V'Latak revealed himself as member of the logic extremists, and killed himself in an explosive act of sabotage that left Sarek's cruiser stranded in the Yridia Nebula. Sarek was the only other person aboard, and left incapacitated. A rescue operation by the USS Discovery succeeded in saving Sarek from his cruiser before he was too far gone. (DSC episode: "Lethe")

In 2401, around 36 hours before Frontier Day, the crew of the USS TitanA used the wrecked Vulcan warship VSS T'Pau in the Chin'toka scrapyard as part of a ploy to trap Vadic of the Shrike. (PIC episode: "Dominion")

In the 2410s, the T'Pau class was deployed as a tier 6-rated scout ship by members of the Khitomer Alliance. (STO website: Mirror of Discovery : Command the T'Pau Scout Ship!)

Alliance flag officers, deployed the VSS T'Pau for missions around Milky Way Galaxy's four quadrants as part of the four-quadrant strategy. (STO - New Dawn mission: "Admiralty System")

Mirror universe[]

Solkar-class vessels were also built in the mirror universe, there they were largely used by rebels against the Terran Empire. Around December 2256 or January 2257, the Discovery was attacked by rebel cruiser while inside a field of starship debris. The cruiser was quickly destroyed by the ISS Cooper. (DSC episode: "Despite Yourself")

Alternate timelines[]

Vulcan Front battle

CSS La Sirena on the Vulcan Front.

In an alternate timeline created by Q by changing Earth history in 2024, General Sisko of the Confederation of Earth deployed Kaplan F17 starships, led by CSS La Sirena, on the Vulcan Front of the Vulcan War in the 2400s. In the year 2401, La Sirena was part of a task force consisting of five Kaplan F17 ships. On Eradication Day, Colonel Cristóbal Rios led this force in a battle against Fleet Commander Tuvok's Vulcan cruisers. (PIC episode: "Penance")
