Ensign Soumano was a Starfleet member assigned to work with Tathak on an undercover mission against the Orion Syndicate. They visited Ovvaki's Place on an unnamed colony to meet their contact, a Breen.
Soumano had been on the frontier a mere two months before the mission and had never handled latinum before it. In order to prepare for the mission, Soumano had a doctor give him realistic looking phaser scars on the right side of his face and down onto his neck.
