Space Bug 4 was a space bug, an auxiliary craft in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century. The vehicle was assigned to the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the mid-2260s.

History[]

In 2266, after he was cured from the effects of a mutiny-inciting poison, Hurst noticed a cobbled-together spacecraft passing by on the viewscreen. Spock deduced that its crew might have dire reasons for a risky flight. Hurst and three crewmen used Space Bug 4 to track the spacecraft's origin point, the planet Vultra. They quickly located James T. Kirk and Leonard McCoy, who had helped the indigenous population modify existing vehicles to create an armada of makeshift arks and leave their planet before it froze over. After the group witnessed the last of the ships launch on their exodus to a new world, Hurst flew them back to the Enterprise aboard Space Bug 4. (TOS comic: "The Crucial Element")
