Spacesuits

NASA astronauts in spacesuits.

A spacesuit was a specially designed set of clothing used by NASA astronauts to protect themselves from space.

History and specifics[]

These suits consisted of a lower body piece which had a hard outer layer and interwoven fibers underneath, a torso piece designed similarly, a cap with a microphone on it, and a helmet. The suit also included a water circulation system that kept the astronaut cool and the EVA Maneuvering Unit, a jet pack that allowed the astronaut to move.

In 2020, Shaun Christopher used a spacesuit to investigate the alien probe the USS Lewis & Clark had encountered near Saturn. (TOS novel: The Rings of Time)
