"Speculations" is a category in the Strange New Worlds contest. It is used for stories which are not obviously or exclusively set in any one series. This may include stories which combine series' characters (Captain Kirk is plucked from the past to join Captain Picard, for example) or are set many years in the distant future or past.
The category was created for Strange New Worlds VI specifically so that there would be a logical place for the Grand Prize winner, "Our Million-Year Mission," by Robert T. Jeschonek.
