"Spell of the Spider" is a 20th century story, chapter 16 in the science fiction serial The Adventures of Captain Proton.

History and specifics[]

In this chapter, Doctor Chaotica received a vial of potent pheromones from Queen Arachnia. He smelled it, and subsequently he would fall under her control whenever he breathes more. Harry Kim summarized the plot to Kathryn Janeway as she prepared to portray Arachnia in USS Voyager's holodeck in 2375. (VOY episode: "Bride of Chaotica!")

The holonovel adaptation of this chapter featured Captain Proton, Arachnia, and Chaotica. As the story unfolded, isolinear chips, a wrench, ray guns, and an optronic data core also came into play. (ST video game: Timelines)
