Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season 5

The fifth season of Deep Space Nine was produced and aired in 1996 and 1997.

History

The series returned to the storyline of the Dominion threat to the Alpha Quadrant, with Jem'Hadar ships invading in "In Purgatory's Shadow". Dukat allies with the Dominion and Cardassian space gives the Dominion a foothold in the Alpha Quadrant. The Dominion War begins in "Call to Arms" when the crew mine the entrance to the wormhole to stop more Dominion vessels coming through. The Dominion invasion brings to an end two storylines, it concludes the Maquis storyline when they are wiped out by the Dominion and the Klingon renew the Khitomer Accords alliance with the Federation in the face of the Dominion threat.

To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Star Trek, the episode "Trials and Tribble-ations" sees Captain Sisko and the crew of the Defiant sent back in time to the setting of the original series, where they must save Captain Kirk's life.

Returning characters include Dukat, Garak, Nog, Rom, Eddington, Kasidy Yates, Leeta, Keiko, Molly, Zek, Kor, Gowron, Brunt, Shakaar, Damar, Weyoun, Martok, Ziyal, Ishka, Muniz, Ghemor, Grilka and Dr. Mora. Dr. Zimmerman and a EMH make guest appearances.
