Star Trek: Section 31 (S31) is a Star Trek series.

History and specifics[]

The line began as a miniseries of novels in 2001, each centering on the activities of Section 31, the secret covert operations division of Starfleet that was established in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Inquisition". The first group of novels was released as a crossover miniseries, with each being branded as part of the four major franchise series at the time. Follow-up novels by David Mack focused on Julian Bashir and were branded simply as "Star Trek: Section 31"

In the aftermath of Star Trek: Coda, the three Julian Bashir installments have been revealed to have taken place in an alternate continuity, the First Splinter timeline.

A Section 31 television production has been announced as being in development, as a spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery, to continue the stories of Emperor Philippa Georgiou of the mirror universe's Terran Empire, who joined Section 31 in disguise as the late Captain Philippa Georgiou of the primary universe; and the Klingon mole Ash Tyler. Both of those characters became involved in Section 31 in DSC season 2 and exited that series as of DSC season 3. The S31 series was announced for CBS All Access in 2019 but put on hiatus during the pandemic in 2020. Paramount+, the rebranded successor to CBS All Access, has confirmed there may be a plan to reschedule the production.[1]
