Starbase 11 was a Federation command center starbase, located on the surface of the planet Yko in the Beta Quadrant. It was one of the key administrative facilities in the Quadrant and was also one of the "fall back" locations in case anything happened to Earth. A range of important events would take place at the station, from simple ceremonies to court martials. (Decipher RPG module: Starfleet Operations Manual)

In addition to its starship repair facilities, Starbase 11 also housed a hospital section with an intensive care area dedicated to the treatment of seriously wounded individuals, including Fleet Captain Christopher Pike. (TOS episode: "The Menagerie")

As a planetside base, residents of the base as well as visitors could enjoy recreational activities, including swimming in Yko's oceans. Housing consisting of bungalows on stilts directly in the water allowed for easy access. (ST - Coda novel: Moments Asunder)

Admiral Brett Anderson was stationed at Starbase 11 in the 2240s. After a fungal infection had destroyed much of the food supplies on Tarsus IV officials contacted Starbase 11 for assistance. Anderson responded, promising to send help but cautioned it might take some time for relief to arrive.

Following the murder of 4,000 colonists by then Governor Kodos, Starfleet offered to evacuate any colonists desiring to leave to Starbase 11. After the arrival of the USS Enterprise, the USS Narbonne departed for Starbase 11. Relieved by another team, the survivors of Outpost Tarsus IV were brought back to Starbase 11 for debriefing, followed by shore leave and subsequent reassignment. (DSC novel: Drastic Measures)

Rana Desai served in the JAG office aboard Starbase 11 in 2264 before transferring to the JAG office on Starbase Vanguard the following year considering it good duty. (VAN novella: Almost Tomorrow)

Holly Moyer served a tour aboard Starbase 11 in the JAG office after three years of studies in law school. (VAN novel: Open Secrets)

Christopher Pike was assigned to Starbase 11 in 2265. (DS9 - The Lives of Dax short story: "Sins of the Mother")

In 2267, the Enterprise headed to Starbase 11 in order to make repairs after it had suffered severe damage following an encounter with an ion storm, where Captain James T. Kirk faced a court-martial on Starbase 11 for the murder of Benjamin Finney. It was later revealed that Finney had faked his death and reprogrammed the computer to frame Kirk. (TOS episode: "Court Martial")

Later that year, Spock hijacked the Enterprise to Starbase 11 in order to kidnap Captain Pike to Talos IV. Captain Kirk pursued Spock in the Picasso, one of the starbase's shuttlecraft. (TOS episode: "The Menagerie")

In 2268, the USS Farragut docked at Starbase 11 for repairs, but was called away to the Klingon agricultural colony on Signi Beta. (TOS novel: Treaty's Law)

In 2270, the Enterprise returned to Starbase 11 for repairs and inspection detail. (TOS novel: Yesterday's Son)

The Enterprise returned later that year, following the dissolution of the Organian Peace Treaty, briefing the admiralty on the Organian warning not to hunt the secrets of the Preservers. (TOS - Year Four: The Enterprise Experiment comic: "Part 5")

Starbase 11 was 20 light-days away from Abaris, which collided with another planet in 2273. Before the collision, 2,000 green, tiny fungal-type aliens were rescued by the crew of the USS Enterprise. The refugees were taken to the starbase. (TOS comic: "Aberration on Abaris")

In the late 2280s, the USS Enterprise-A visited Starbase 11 to pick up a team, led by Doctor Corazon Kohwangko, assigned by the Starfleet Surgeon General's office to lead up a population renewal program for the inhabitants of planet Datugad. (TOS comic: "So Near the Touch")

In 2298, Klingon rebels attacked the starbase. Doctor Leonard McCoy treated some of the wounded, including Lieutenant Harvey Hildebrandt.

Between 2348 and 2376, during Admiral Michael Carlin's tenure as CO, a group of Midrossi attacked the starbase. It also experienced earthquakes and a temporal anomaly. Its sensor capabilities were upgraded to detect hostile starships from a distance of 20 light years. (ST - New Worlds, New Civilizations short story: "225 Years of Service")

In 2372, the USS Samson collected eight officers from the starbase as well as some state-of-the-art isolinear circuits which were bound for the newly-launched USS Enterprise-E. (TNG eBook: A Sea of Troubles)

In 2375, the base was attacked by a Dominion Fleet during the Dominion War. Through the code-breaking efforts of Project Mungin, Starfleet was warned of the attack, but chose not to send extra ships in order to protect their ability to read Dominion codes. (SCE eBook: Echoes of Coventry)

By the 24th century, Starbase 11 had a fully operational space station facility which was active in the late 2370s, after the Dominion War. (TNG video games: Armada, Armada II)

In 2400, Commander Harry Kim became head of security at the starbase. He also became the station's first officer. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many, ST website : The Path to 2409)

In Armada, the starbase's space station name was randomly assigned to a playing field station by the game software.
