Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Starbase 14 was a Federation Starfleet space station, a K-class starbase located near the planet Styris IV, in the vicinity of the Romulan Neutral Zone. (TOS - The Chosen comic: "Blood Enemies")

Specifics[]

Starbase 14 was a Starfleet facility constructed in the 22nd or 23rd century. (TOS comic: "Experiment in Vengeance!")

By the year 2270, it was located in Sector 14. (TAS - Log 10 novelization: The Slaver Weapon)

This base was in Starfleet Intelligence sector 4 ("SW sector intel"), which contained many colony and home star systems of Federation members. The central control for Starfleet Intelligence bases in this area was at Starbase 14. Intelligence units active for this sector in the 23rd century included the Starfleet Intelligence Internal Activities Unit and Starfleet Intelligence Klingon Activities Unit. (FASA RPG module: Star Fleet Intelligence Manual)

At coordinates 3.74S 0.02W, one star chart displayed Starbase 14 in the general vicinity of the planets Axanar, Coridan III, and Niobe. (FASA RPG module: The Federation)

It was 52 hours away from the Thraz Streamer. (TOS - Constellations short story: "Ambition")

It orbited an inhabited planet and had installations on the surface. (TOS - New Visions comic: "1971/4860.2")

Service history[]

23rd century[]

In the 2250s decade, the USS Endeavour was heading for Starbase 14, but failed to arrive and was presumed missing. (TOS comic: "Experiment in Vengeance!")

Starbase 14 supported a huge refueling station. In 2267, while under the command of Commodore Chen, Starbase 14's warp reactor failed due to the unknown presence of sentient antimatter "cloudling" entities. While the core was ejected in time, it detonated close enough to the station to destroy much of it, with some portions remaining intact and functioning under emergency power. Survivors were rescued by a nearby Starfleet starship. (Adventures RPG module: The Burning)

As the sector surrounding the Starbase was claimed by the Kalakh Hegemony, it was possible that the facility was repaired, replaced, or re-designated at another location following these events.

In 2267, the USS Enterprise headed to Starbase 14 after visiting the Thraz Outpost. (TOS - Constellations short story: "Ambition")

In 2268, the USS Enterprise picked up Dhoraxi Ambassador Xahd at Starbase 14. While beaming to the starbase's surface installation, Captain James T. Kirk was transposed into an alternate timeline in which the Dhoraxi Empire replaced the Federation. (TOS - New Visions comic: "1971/4860.2")

In 2269, the Metans attacked the station. When the Enterprise arrived to render assistance, only 74 of a crew of 5700 survived. The Metans attempted to frame the Romulan Star Empire for the act, to gain control of this region of space, but were thwarted by the Enterprise crew. (TOS - The Chosen comic: "Blood Enemies")

In 2270, starships were withdrawn from the region surrounding Starbase 14 for four months for routine maintenance. During a sensitive negotiation on Briamos, Klingon Captain Kumara suggested that it was because the sector's inhabitants weren't considered worth protecting, a demonstration of Federation negligence. (TAS - Log 10 novelization: The Slaver Weapon)

In 2270, an interstellar gateway appeared within a parsec of Starbase 14. (TOS novel: The Final Nexus)

In the late 23rd century, Starbase 14 was the home of the 13th Pursuit Group of Scorpio-class corvettes. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)

In 2286, Harry Mudd and an Alice series android met a banker on Starbase 14. (TNG novel: The Light Fantastic)

In 2293, Pavel Chekov was stationed at Starbase 14. (TOS novel: The Last Roundup)

24th century[]

In 2364, Starbase 14 coordinated the response to the outbreak of Anchilles disease that had gripped Styris IV. The base monitored the plague and reported the situation to the USS Enterprise-D, which was attempting to acquire a vaccine for the disease on Ligon II. (TNG episode: "Code of Honor")

In 2368, the starbase was contact point for regular updates from Dr. Marjorie Devarona's archaeological expedition to Rajatha Prime. When the expedition failed to make the scheduled contact the starbase altered the Enterprise-D to investigate. (TNG - The Space Between comic: "Captain's Pleasure")

In 2370, Travis Perraton contacted Starbase 14 to request a replacement combat support tender to take over their patrol while he and Eric Stiles diverted the USS Saskatoon to rendezvous with the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG - Double Helix novel: Red Sector)
