Starbase 157 was a Federation starbase in the 24th century, a space station in planetary orbit. Starbase 157's planet was in a system was located in the space of the galaxy's Beta Quadrant, specifically in the Donatu sector of the Eta Eridani sector block. This star system's area was close to the Federation's border with the Romulan Star Empire and the Klingon Empire, in the general vicinity of Acamar, Jouret, and the Paulson Nebula. (ST reference: Star Charts; STO video game: Star Trek Online)

In 2366, this starbase picked up the Federation starship USS Lalo's final distress call prior to its destruction. The Lalo reported encountering a cube-shaped starship that was later identified by the USS Enterprise-D as being Borg in origin. (TNG episode: "The Best of Both Worlds")

Later history[]

References in ST - DTI novel: Watching the Clock and STO novel: The Needs of the Many establish that the timeline of Star Trek Online is an alternate reality to the timeline in the Destiny novels. In particular, the Borg Invasion of 2381 did not occur in the STO timeline. The two references below this note may be representative of divergent continuities.

Destroyed by the Borg[]

During the invasion of the Borg Collective in 2381, Starbase 157 was one of five simultaneous attacks along with bases 234 and 343 and the planets of Khitomer and Korvat. The USS Enterprise-E received a distress call from 157 and heard as the attacking cube rammed the base and destroyed it. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)

25th century[]

By the year 2409, Starbase 157 hosted a large ship yard facility, and was considered to be an important piece of Federation territory in its place in the Donatu sector along the Federation-Klingon Empire border. (STO video game: Star Trek Online)
