Starbase 257

Starbase 257 was a Federation Starfleet Sigma-class starbase with a space station facility in the 24th century.

Service history[]

During the Dominion War, in the year 2374, Starbase 257 came under attack by several Jem'Hadar fighters. Jake Sisko and Nog had just left the starbase before the attack aboard the USS Shenandoah. (DS9 episode: "Valiant")

In the event of an attack on Deep Space 9 by hostile forces such as the Dominion, starships stationed at Starbase 257 were to travel there to assist the USS Defiant and the Danube-class runabouts in protecting the space station. (DS9 reference: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual)

Starbase 257 was located in relatively close proximity to Deep Space 9 in the B'hava'el star system. (DS9 episode: "Valiant")
