Starbase 28 was a Federation space station, a Sigma-class starbase in Starfleet service in the 23rd and 24th centuries. (TOS novel: The Trellisane Confrontation, ST video games: Armada, Armada II)

Service history and specifications[]

Starbase 28 was in treaty boundary quadrant 1, in close proximity to the Drexler star system in quadrant 2. (ST reference: Star Trek Maps; TOS comic: "... Like a Woman Scorned!")

The USS Enterprise headed for Starbase 28 in Quadrant 1 after departing from the planet Trellisane in 2269. Upon reaching the base, Captain James T. Kirk was ordered to drop off a group of prisoners as well as make a full report on the accord that was signed between the Federation, Klingons and Romulans. (TOS novel: The Trellisane Confrontation)

Starbase 28

The derelict Starbase 28.

Following the end of the Dominion War in 2375, Starbase 28 and its associated drydock, Erabus Prime Shipyard, were left derelict behind an asteroid belt in the treacherous Ikolis Expanse, Sector 441. On stardate 53551.6 (2376), Ambassador Worf commanded the USS Avenger during a diplomatic mission from Qo'noS to the Federation when he came under attack by Toral, his Negh'Var-class battlecruiser, and a pair of B'rel-class escorts. The Avenger evaded pursuit by passing local asteroid belts and nebulae, and picking up derelict ships along the way. Enclosed by an asteroid belt, and hidden behind a metaphasic nebula, the Avenger found SB28 and Erabus. Worf had the two stations restaffed, which subsequently changed from blue markings to white fleet colors. Toral's forces attacked the outpost but were repelled by the improved defenses. The outpost was left operational when the Avenger continued on its way and left the area through a wormhole. (ST video game: Armada mission: "Vendetta")

Soon after, and again six months later, in 2377, the station saw action during the invasions of the Federation by the Borg Collective and Species 8472. (ST video games: Armada, Armada II)

No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this station as its name was selected for a starbase by the Armada and Armada II game developers, and is sometimes placed randomly when the station appears.
