Starbase 045 was a Federation starbase in operation in the mid-23rd century, and was administered by Starfleet. It was a ground base facility located on the planet Algol II near one of the ancient glass cities that were located on the planet. There were two orbital repair scaffolds in orbit over the starbase. In the year 2254, Starbase 45 was under command of Commodore Strickland.

The Federation starship USS Enterprise and the USS Nelson docked at Starbase 45 for repairs after their battle with the Tholians at the Theta Kalyb colony. (EV comic: "Futures, Part One")

In 2265, the USS Collins was three days out of Starbase 45 when the Soyuz-class vessel suffered a warp core breach destroying the ship. (TOS - Spock: Reflections comic: "Issue 3")

By the 2360s the starbase was under command of Commander Don Dixon. (TNG episode: "Conspiracy")
