The Starfleet News Service is a department of the Federation Starfleet. Its mandate is to provide less formal media for the interest of Starfleet personnel.

HistoryEdit

In 2375, Starfleet News Service correspondents traveled to several different Federation, allied and non-allied worlds (and even the Q Continuum) to report and write feature articles for print or produce feature segments for broadcast. (ST reference: New Worlds, New Civilizations)

The Starfleet News Service is distinct from other Federation media, such as the similarly-named Federation News Service. It presumably is similar in form and function to the American military's Armed Forces Radio and Television Service.
