24th century Federation Starfleet used different uniforms for its personnel in the 2380s decade. While some personnel retained the gray-shouldered black uniforms from the 2370s, other crews wore duty jacket with less muted colors. (LD episode: "We'll Always Have Tom Paris")
The different styles had their own, situation-appropriate variants, e.g. dress uniforms. (LD episode: "An Embarrassment Of Dooplers")
History[]
One style carried over from the 2370s. This Starfleet uniform in use was overall black, with grey shoulders, and department colors indicated by cuff stripes and the undershirt. (TNG movie: Star Trek Nemesis)
Starfleet granted its assignments some latitude in the uniform code. For instance, Chief Petty Officer Carlton Dennis, who operated a transporter facility on Earth in 2382, wore the early 2370s-era uniform underneath a nonstandard cloak. (LD episode: "Grounded")
By stardate 57436.2, in the year 2380, at least a section of Starfleet had switched to a more colorful, vibrant uniform. The three department colors were command red, science blue and operations yellow. The combadge was plain silver. (LD episode: "Second Contact")
In the 25th century, this uniform was called Starfleet 2380 by Starfleet and the Khitomer Alliance tailors. (STO - House United mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
By 2382, another uniform was in use. The department colors were woven into the otherwise black uniform on the shoulders, a separated stripe and on the cuffs. The combadge matched the one from the 2370s. (PIC episode: "Nepenthe")
Starfleet retained this uniform until at least 2390. (PIC episode: "Broken Pieces")
Around 2383, the personnel of the Protostar-class[1] starship USS Protostar wore a formfitting, light gray and black uniform. (PRD episode: "First Con-tact")
The combadge design included a split and a command-division star. (PRD episode: "Lost and Found")
In 2384, the personnel of the USS Dauntless, who were searching for the missing Protostar, wore uniforms with black shoulders and department colors on the torso. The combadge was the familiar Starfleet arrowhead, emblazoned on a pair of vertical bars. (PRD episode: "A Moral Star")
In one series of events, Starfleet had adopted a Sierra-style uniform by 2387. (ST - Countdown comic: "Number One")
This style remained in widespread use until 2409 and 2410, when the Starfleet Uniform Code 2410 came into effect. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
