Doctor Steckler was a 23rd century Human man, a scientist who was in charge of the Federation's Research Satellite-5 space station in the 2260s.

History[]

In 2266, Steckler gave a station tour to Montgomery Scott, Spock and James T. Kirk, showing them a sigma ray radiation enclosure, an antigravity interrupter, and a hybrid fire-spider.

During the tour, an alert sent them to the time travel cabinet where they discovered Doctor Lax dead. A scientist found a video tape addressed to Steckler in the main recreation hall, which contained blackmail demands to prevent Earth from being destroyed in the past by a metaweapon.

Stecker explained the N-cycle bomb project and the time travel device to the Starfleet officers, then operated the device to send Scott to 1855 and Kirk to 1955 in pursuit of the bomb. (TOS comic: "A Bomb in Time")
