Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A sthondat was an animal lifeform known to the Kzinti. The term was often used as an insult.

History and specifics[]

In the year 2274, Kzinti warship Giant Killer's CO Fth-Captain used the word twice. He first uttered it when Telepath discovered that the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise was en route to their base on Mimit. He uttered it again when a pair of huge Ravagers were beamed onto his bridge and indiscriminately began wrecking equipment and personnel. (TOS comic: "The Wristwatch Plantation")

Appendices[]

Background[]

In Known Space universe stories crafted by author Larry Niven, Sthondat blood was used to craft a drug that enhanced Kzinti telepathic prowess. In the Hero's Tongue, the word itself meant "unfit for Kzinti consumption".
