The strategic hovercraft was a type of ground vehicle, a hovercraft developed on Earth. It was an experimental craft designed in the 1980s that could travel over both land and sea.

History[]

In the summer of 1984, a strategic hovercraft mysteriously disappeared while traveling in the middle of an ocean. It was hijacked and brought to a museum on Beton III owned by a humanoid known only as the Collector.

In the 2260s, Admiral Voysey cited the missing hovercraft as an example of many such vehicle disappearances over the centuries. He also cited a missing B-36 Peacemaker bomber which vanished in September 1972 as well as a G-50X rocket plane which was recovered by the USS Enterprise.

This hovercraft remained on exhibit in the Collector's museum, featured along with many other 20th century Earth vehicles in one of the main halls. It was seen by James T. Kirk and Spock. The hovercraft was likely destroyed when that wing of the museum was hit by an errant rocket blast. (TOS comic: "The Collector")
