A subspace-disruption weapon is a type of subspace weapon which is able to create a disruption in the fabric of subspace.

History and specifics[]

Any warp reactor caught within the field of such a weapon would be rendered inoperative unless specific countermeasures were taken to shield the reactor.

A prototype subspace-disruption weapon was developed in 2291 at the Discovery Center on Varnex, by a team led by Doctor Theena elMadej. Theena then aided the Torye in stealing the weapon, which was eventually transferred onto a stolen Klingon mobile battle base, where it was destroyed inside a subspace rift it was used to create. Following this incident, Captain James T. Kirk suggested the Federation ban the development of any similar weapons. (TOS - Mere Anarchy eBook: The Blood-Dimmed Tide)
