Background[]
- Rather than General Essex, in real-world history Omar Bradley was the U.S. Army's five-star general in 1957. He served in the role from 1950 through 1981.
- There are two Patterson Creeks in the United States, but the only one in the Midwest is in Allamakee County, Iowa. An army base is actually located in a neighboring county. The story's Camp Percival might be named named for World War II Lieutenant General Arthur Percival.
