The Supreme Leader is a title in Jibetian culture who served as both the spiritual leader of Jibet and head of the royal family. The Supreme ruler was regarded as a god to the people as it was believed that the Supreme Ruler's lineage was of the Immortals.

In the period of the Jibetian dynasty, the Supreme Rulership was a patriarchal system, and the Jibetians believed that a man could always father children. Everyone else was considered expendable and the only person of any consequence at all was the ruler himself. (DS9 novel: The Long Night)
