Survey II (SF-788) was a Federation surveyor starship in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century. It was capable of entering a planet's atmosphere and landing, and had a crew of six.

Service history[]

In 2267, Survey II visited the water world Tekkor. While passing close to the ocean's surface, an enormous Tekkorian sea-snake attacked and damaged the ship. It was salvaged by Tekkorians and its crew cared for in stasis chambers in a Tekkorian hospital.

Two months later, the USS Enterprise was dispatched to locate Survey II. When the shuttlecraft Galileo hovered to search for signs of the surveyor's wreckage, it was grabbed by intelligent red octopus monsters and led to an airlock where Survey II was kept. The landing party misinterpreted Tekkorians as hostile aliens who were medically experimenting with the surveyor's crew. Once a crewman revived and was released from stasis, he was able to clear up the misunderstanding. (TOS comic: "Under the Sea")
