The Syclarians were an aquatic humanoid race known to the Federation in the mid 24th century.

Physiology[]

The Syclarians were humanoid, with tentacles instead of fingers and toes, eyestalks on their heads, and vestigial gills. Due to the tentacles, they have possibly evolved from cephalopods. (SCE eBook: The Riddled Post)

Society and Culture[]

They had a strong cultural interest in aquatic sports and activities. They kept octopus-like creatures called h'stirips as pets, and by the 24th century it was considered popular in their society to utilize the ink of the animal for writing greeting cards and personal letters. History[]

In 2376, while investigating an incident on BorSitu Minor, Dr. Bartholomew Faulwell translated of the journal of V'reet D't Madl'r, a Syclarian scientist. In light of that work, he was asked by the Sato Linguistics Institute to write a paper on the Syclarian language for their journal (after their request had been rejected by a Syclarian linguist).
