Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

The Syletir module was a large, floating artificial habitat, one of hundreds of biomes making up the Web of Worlds in the First Federation. It was located within the atmosphere of the class J gas giant Cherela.

Specifics[]

The module reproduced the oceanographic environment of the planet Syletir and served as nature preserve for that world's lifeforms. It was more than 1,100 kilometers wide and covered with a transparent dome. Gravity was below 1G. It was terraformed with an ocean, islands, and a large island continent with mountains in the center, with at least one city.

In the city, a hangar in one of the lower towers stored various shuttles. An administrative tower contained a large chamber showcasing a holographic replica of the Web of Worlds. A control center managed the artificial gravity system which kept the module afloat, powered by the planet's massive electromagnetic field.

History[]

In 2269, the Syletir module was the temporary, seasonal seat of government for the Council of the First Federation. When the USS Enterprise initially discovered the Web of Worlds and was boarded by Chief Protector Nisu Miratuli of the First Federation, she brought James T. Kirk, Spock, David Bailey, Nyota Uhura, Anne Nored and Louis Prescott to the nearest module, the Syletir module. There they were introduced to the three members of the council, who then described the origins of the Web of Worlds and gave them a tour of various modules.

Later, after the collapse of the Fiilestii module prompted the arrest of Kirk as a scapegoat, he was taken in restraints to the Syletir module before being remanded to Nepara, a penal module.

During Dassik orbital bombardment of the modules, Kirk and Spock were on the Syletir module when they conceived the idea of reconfiguring Cherela's electromagnetic field and reshaping its radiation belt as a way to disable the Dassik ships. Meanwhile, bombardment of the Syletir module triggered a shock wave and tsunami which began to destabilize the biome, but Spock and Uhura were able to re-stabilize systems throughout the Web of Worlds.
