A symbiont pool was a natural or artificial pools of liquid in which Trill symbionts lived or were temporarily kept.
There were several symbiont pools in the Caves of Mak'ala. These pools were looked after by the Trill Order of the Guardians. (DS9 episodes: "Equilibrium", "Facets", "Afterimage")
