Synaptic pattern displacement is the scientific term for the process of transferring the consciousness of an individual to another. The process has been used by the Vulcans to transfer their katra.

History and specifics[]

In the year 2369, the Kobliad criminal Rao Vantika studied synaptic pattern displacement and successfully transferred his consciousness to Julian Bashir. (DS9 episode: "The Passenger")

In the Kelvin timeline alternate reality created by Nero, Nverinn tr'Rehu was hopeful that one day Romulans could use synaptic pattern displacement by mastering their latent psychic abilities. (SA novel: The Gemini Agent)
